About Us

Fishing is nothing less than a passion for Captain Greg Borras, who has been working aboard the Golden Eagle for almost 10 years. Doing what easily felt natural, Captain Greg started out as a mate on the vessel and learned the ropes from veteran crew members. Later, he became the first mate and then a Captain.

Captain Greg’s effervescent personality won him many fans as he created a welcoming, easy-going atmosphere for fishermen, and always made himself available to help during seemingly hectic fishing trips. Experienced and novice fishers alike could count on his assistance since he often offered before being asked. Captain Greg can always be seen hooking a fish and passing a rod to a kid, which he was best known for. Over time, he finally accomplished his dream by earning his Captain License.

Since then, he has logged significant time aboard the Golden Eagle by running successful local and offshore trips under the guidance of Capt. Rich Falcone who said “Greg is one of most talented fishermen I have ever seen. He’s always looking to learn more, and he never gives-up. That’s why he will be a great captain.”

In December 2022 Capt. Greg & Capt. Rich purchased a 31ft, twin diesel Rampage, called the Victoria Marie and starting in March they will be using it for Spring Raritan Bay Striper Fishing and then will move to Belmar for the Inshore Sea Bass trips. When Captain Greg Borras is not working aboard the Victoria Marie or the Golden Eagle, he is fishing local rivers, bays, or challenging himself to fish in complex areas. He is passionate about scouting and researching new areas to fish in his free time.
